Cordova Builders started in 2022 with a simple idea: build homes that belong where they stand. Founder Michael Cordova launched the company in Illinois, drawing on years of hands-on construction experience before relocating his family to Westcliffe in search of a life closer to the mountains. That move wasn't just personal. It shaped everything about how we build.

Westcliffe sits in Custer County at roughly 8,000 feet, where the terrain is unforgiving and city utilities are often nowhere in sight. We arrived ready to work and quickly learned what it takes to build well here. Labor shortages, remote job sites, and high-altitude conditions pushed us to sharpen every part of our process. The result is a team that knows this land and builds for it.

We specialize in custom homes, new construction, remodels, and decks across Custer County and Fremont County. Off-grid builds are where we do some of our most rewarding work. We design and deliver fully independent homes with solar integration, well systems, and radiant heating that function without any connection to city utilities. These aren't experimental features. We've proven them on our own builds in Westcliffe's toughest conditions.

What separates us from larger firms is straightforward. Michael digs the excavation, pours the foundation, frames the walls, and installs the roof. He is on every job site, not managing from a distance. That hands-on presence means every detail gets the attention it deserves, from the footing to the finish.

Every project we take on also respects Westcliffe's dark-sky ordinance and incorporates fire-resistant materials and defensible space planning. In a high-risk wildfire zone, those aren't optional extras. They're part of building responsibly for the people who will live in these homes for decades.
